I have no problem adding a Master slide to a project, but if I ever want to delete it, I find the option to delete both in the ribbon and if I right click is grayed out even after selecting each slide. It appears as if there is no way to delete a Master slide once it is created. Is that true?
Slide masters can be deleted but ONLY if they are not being used by any slides in your project. You will need to apply another slide master to your slides before you are able to delete the master you are trying to delete.
I have changed all the slides to blank and I still cannot delete the 13 slide masters that were created by pasting slides in. It does not give you the option to paste into current master and creates a duplicate of exactly the same master everytime you paste a slide.
It does not let you delete slide master even if no slide is using it.
I'm sure that's frustrating! Great idea to open a support case, and Ronaziel has already sent you some questions that will help us narrow down why this is happening. I'll follow along in your case as it progresses!
I took a look at the case that Karin worked on with our team, but it is still open with our team, and I have no conclusion to share yet.
If you'd like to share your .story file, we'd be happy to take a look. If you cannot share it here in the forums, you are welcome to share here privately.
Oddly enough - I had the same problem and while I could not delete the slide master I was able to cut it. Just right-click on the master and select cut.
Glad to hear you were able to remove that master, Sue, but I'm sorry you ran into trouble in the first place! If you find yourself stuck again, you can always share a .story file here in the community or connect directly with our Support Team for some private, one-on-one help.

Thanks - This discussion forum is super helpful when I run into trouble. Almost alway, someone has already posted about any issue I am experiencing. Keep up the great work!
Karin, I don't know if you were able to successfully delete Slide Masters that were 'used by no slides' but I was having a similar problem... ergo, I found myself searching for an answer in this forum. Then I remembered the old-school method of getting things to work when they're not working like they should: shut it down and try again. When right-clicking and cutting wasn't doing the trick, I closed and restarted SL; went into the Slide Master view, right-clicked one of the stubborn masters and VOILA! It worked!
Hopefully, you were able to get yours resolved, otherwise give this a try. But you've certainly come to the right place for answers.

I have found another fix for this problem for wanting to delete Master Slides. If you have any layers, you will need to apply the layout to each layer. Then that will allow you to delete any Slide Masters you no longer want. I have attached a screen shot as an example.
I had the same issue a couple of days ago. I eventually went into the Timeline and "unlocked" the details (such as rectangle etc), and was then able to delete.

Hi Debbie and welcome to E-Learning Heroes 😊
Thanks for popping in and sharing your solution with the community.
HI Everyone,
I had the same issue a couple of days ago. I eventually went into the Timeline and "unlocked" the details (such as rectangle etc), and was then able to delete.
