How to unpreserve a mastern

Nov 11, 2012

I have tried to unpreserve a master so I can delete it with no luck. The master has no slides assigned to it. I highlight the master slide and right click and there is a preserve master check mark and then I go to the top menu bar and click the preserve master to un preserve it so I can delete it and nothing happens It is still preserved so I can't delete it. Please show a visual on how to unpreserve it. Thank you.

Hi Stephen,

You cannot delete a master from within a slide, but you can remove the slide that contains the master. If the master is on its own slide, with no other content, you can easily delete it. However, before you do so, make sure you don't have any other content on that slide. If you delete the slide just to remove the master, you'll lose any other content on that slide.

If the master is on its own slide, with no other content, switch to Story View, or Normal view. You can delete the slide by right-clicking on the slide and selecting "Delete". This will remove the entire slide, along with the master.

Here's a tutorial on using master slides, in case you'd like more information on the topic.
