Dial - Stop forward Progress Until Layer is Visited

Jan 29, 2024

Hey All,

Is there a way to stop a dial from moving past each stop until that stop is completed? For example, the learner turns the dial but cannot go past stop 1 until that stop is complete. I thought I would ask before I rig something together. I know that I can stop the dial from being active until the layer contents ends, but outside of that restriction (hotspot during active VO) they can still turn the dial to any layer they'd like without restriction.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Tom,

Thank you for your quick reply! I tried what you mentioned and they are still able to spin past stops 1-3 as soon as the dial is active, which allows them to skip every dial stop.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious. I changed the layer properties as you said but that did not stop the dial from moving.

My dial is freezing up even if I have not checked on the button "Prevent the user from clicking". Whenever I release the button it does not select anymore, to turn it. It has 5 state, If hold and turn it to 0 to 5 it will go, but once I release it at 5th state or any of the state in between 0-5, that’s it. It won’t work. I made other dials, I have never seen this problem, but why with this slide, would you please help me?

Hillary, similar to Tom's solution, here is another option that entirely prevents the dial from turning past the next uncompleted index. It just disables the dial when it reaches the next mark. Once completed, then it can freely turn through the completed indexes, but not past the next.
