I have a slide with several layers. I have the dim button checked on each layer and it looks correct when I am working on it, yet when I preview it the base layer does not dim. Help! One pic shows how it dims correctly when I am working on, second pic shows how the boxes on the left are not diming when previewing it.

The Dim checkbox is designed to dim the background during development, and does not affect previewing or post publishing content. If you want the content of the base dimmed when the learner sees it, you need to cover the layer with a semi-transparent background, or even easier, a shape. See the sample for ideas.
