Simple question: How do I "dim" a photo and then overlay a text title on top of it? I've tried checking the "dim" button but that doesn't seem to get it done.
Hi, Tom -- I think Michael's idea sounds great, but may I ask: do you happen to have a file started already, and could you please share a bit more about the 'dim' button you mentioned?
here is a sample where an image changes state at 3 secs and text box appears on top - not sure if this is what you mean but might give you an idea to get started.
I like that effect Wendy, but I don't seem to have the "Fade" topion in my "Change state of" menu. Does that perhaps come with some sort of Premium version of Storyline?
I would use states to make this happen, too. Add a state and for that effect, make the image black and white using the image color editing (or another dimmed color version), and then overlay a text box - all within the same state. Then create a trigger to change the image to that state when the learner does whatever you want them to do in order to dim the image.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'dim' button, but with a bitmap selected, the Format tab allows you to change parameters such as the Brightness.

Sorry Tom I should have explained that better.
In addition to the inbuilt Storyline states you can create your own custom states.
Heres a quick video on how I did that
and here is link to SL 2 tutorial
