Disabling buttons on inactive layers/inactivating layers

Jan 03, 2013

I'm building a page in Storyline where users can click on one of 6 buttons and a text caption will popup. They can close the text caption by means of another button on this layer.

I'm using show/hide layer triggers to make the captions appear and disappear.

I'd like to be able to disable the buttons on the lowest layer while a caption is displayed - how do I do this in Storyline? At the moment, users can still click the partially-hidden buttons while a caption is displayed.

Thanks,

Andy Dunn

Hello Andrew! So it sounds like there are things on your base layer that you don't want learners to be able to click from other layers? What you can do is adjust the layer properties. Here's how: click on the little gear icon to the right of the layer's name, and that pops up a properties window, where you can mark an option to "Prevent the user from clicking on the base layer." Does that give you the behavior you need?
