Disabling Next Button Until...
Oct 23, 2015
I found a tutorial on how to disable the next button until you have clicked on certain objects. I know how to do it because I have done it on multiple of my slides, but on some it will not work. I created a slide layer to return an error message letting the user know that they must click all objects in order to progress. If I select one object it will work for that object, but not when i select many. Anyone know why is might not be working?

this might be in the trigger construction... can you share the trigger that you are using to activate your layer and next button?

I created a new variable for the slide and set it equal to false.
I created a trigger to adjust the variable if value equals true when State on All of ______ are visited.
I made it so that the next trigger works based off of the variable is true.
I made it so that when the next button is clicked and it is false, that it returns an error message displayed on another layer.
Did any of that make sense?
i think maybe necessary to use a number variable when there are numerous things that have to change states. then set your trigger to increment the variable by 1 when each item is in the visited state.
then set the next button trigger to if the value of the vaiable equals ___ then go to next slide, else show layer...
Hi Christopher
I use offstage objects that when an onstage object is clicked / hovered, the offstage object changes state, then use the changed states of my offstage objects as the condition in the trigger. Hope that makes sense...
Happy to take a look at the file if you want to upload it
Hi, Christopher -- Thanks for your question, and I think it might be helpful if you were able to share your file here so that it's easier to envision what you are trying to accomplish. All you need to do is click the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left corner. Please let us know if you need additional assistance. :)
Hi folks,
I added a next button that I want to trigger when the viewer is almost done viewing a video inserted as a web object. I can't get the button to show up. I also tried using the built in button and making that work after the video was viewed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sue, have you tried creating a cue point on the timeline and a trigger that changes the state of the button?
