In this application I'm building an interactive simulation for, after you type text in a text box, there is button to click on.
When I try to do this in Storyline, Storyline requires you to press Enter after typing in the text before it will validate if you typed the text correctly and to automatically advance to the next slide which is to click on that button.
Is there a way to not have to press Enter, and just click on the button?
Here is a description on how the enter key will behave in data entry fields. If you're able to adjust the data entry field as described in that article to create it so that the user could press the enter key and it would kick them to the next line - that would prevent them from using the enter key to submit the interaction at least right away.
Ashley, this was very helpful information and I applied this to my text entry boxes. Do you know if there any way to disable the Enter key on basic Quiz questions (T/F, Multiple choice, etc.)? I want to allow users to skip a question and then come back to it later, but if they press "Enter" it locks in their blank answer.
The "enter key" doesn't behave the same for radio button questions as it does for data entry - have you set up a trigger for the enter key to submit it? If you want to set it up to allow users to submit the questions all at once and skip them as they go you can remove the information here.
