Disabling the next button

Feb 03, 2016

Hi.  I'm struggling with enabling the next button after a learner has visited all the buttons on the slide.  I followed the "How to Temporarily Disable or Hide the Navigation Buttons" on Articulate's website. I first disabled the next button when the slide begins and was able to get the button to function if I only require students to click one of the buttons.  But when I require all the buttons to be visited, the button will not reactivate. I have included a screen shot to show the trigger in case anyone spots what I've done wrong.

I've also tried adding variables as suggested on Articulate's website (https://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-disable-the-next-button-until-users-finish-interacting-with-a-slide), but also ran into the same problem.  So, I abandoned that technique and went back to the initial way mentioned above.

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!

Hello Ginger!

It's difficult to tell without seeing the story file, but I think I might see it on your screenshot.  It looks like your triggers have the wrong state in them.  Instead of changing the state to "Visited" when you click, your triggers are setting the states to "Complete1" or "Complete2" when you click them.

Your Next button trigger is looking for objects in the visited state, but it's only finding objects with "Complete1", Complete2", etc.  If you change your triggers to set your buttons to a "Visited" state when clicked, it should fix the issue.

Hope this helps!
