Displaying a negative result

Hello Heroes,

I am creating a game where the learner either earns money or loses money.  I know how to do the adding and subtracting.  What I would like to do is not have a negative result display the minus sign (e.g. -100), instead I would like it to appear in red.  Multiplying by -1 when the result is less than 0 because it makes the result positive and then any further subtractions of money are subtracted from a positive number instead of a negative number.  I've searched for how this can be done to no avail.  Can you help?
