Displaying user choices
Jan 01, 2013
I've been trying to solve this problem of mine, and thought I'd come close a few times with solutions posted by other members.
I have a slide that offers 6 choices. The students have to pick a choice, it gets shown on a "results" page.
They move on to the next decision point, again choosing from 6 choices. When submitted, the results page now shows what was picked in the first round, as well as the second.
This repeats one more time (to have a results slide of user's 3 choices in summary.
I have tried a number of approaches, and had it working for the first decision point. The problem is that I'm needing to move on to more in-between slides, and then decision points again. To do all this on the same slide (in layers and states) seems to get quite cumbersome.
If anyone knows how to do this, I'd very much appreciate this. I'll attach a very rough version of a story file, and left off the third stage to keep it short and sharp.
Thanks in advance!
Elke

Hi Elke, I have had a go.
I have added two numeric variables for each choice which I am assigning a value to for each choice.
I have adjusted your design on choice 11 to use shapes instead of hotspots and state changes instead of layers. This allows you to use button sets and the selected state.
Only choice 1 pictures 1 and 2 work, choice 2 does not work.
On the results slide I have used a shape with states and on timeline starts triggers to change its state based on the variable value.
Thanks, Phil - that got me onto the right track. I'll tinker around a little bit more and repost the final file when done (stand by anyone who needs something similar). It'll be a week or so. I need to go 'offline' and camping for a while after all that rigorous variables business
