Do I need a results slide for SCORM tracking?

Dec 16, 2013

If a user completes an interaction but I don't add a trigger to "Submit Results", does Storyline still know to send a signal to the LMS that the interaction has been completed?

Here's the scenario:

1. User completes interaction and it's tied to results slide (results are never displayed or submitted thru trigger)

2. When publishing, I choose that particular results slide to determine completion

My main problem is that I don't want to show the results slide but I want the user to get credit based on that results slide. How can I achieve that?

Hi Jason,

Course completion is communicated the LMS by meeting the completion requirements you've designed, which in this scenario is when they reach the results slide. You could use a similar method as described here to mask the Results slide, but the interaction will need to be submitted (you don't need to use the built in submit button - you could trigger it with anything) and to submit the results on that slide.

Hi Jason,

Yes, as Phil mentioned, there needs to be some action that passes the results slide information on to your LMS but you don't need to show it to the user. You'll just want to make sure that the trigger to submit results is before the trigger that jumps to the next slide, but I'd set them both to fire when the timeline starts.

I'm concerned that if I set the "submit interaction" when the timeline starts AND "submit results" when the timeline starts on the same slide that they might not work, even if I put the "submit results" trigger after "submit interaction"; like the data didn't have a chance to be processed before submitting results. Any thoughts?
