Do older Storyline projects upload to newer version

Jul 06, 2021

I have an older Storyline project (2017/18), I was able to bring into Storyline 365 but slides contain jumbled content. Example text is overlapping on most slides. Is there a work around to be able to utilize file?

Hi, Gail,

I can't tell from your image whether it was captured while Previewing a slide or in edit mode.

I've seen slides like that in edit mode when someone put all the interactive content on the base. In other words, the text boxes associated with clicking buttons are all in the same location. They'd have their initial state as Hidden, and the triggers for the buttons would show the corresponding text box and hide the others. To edit such text boxes, you'd have to use the eye icons in the Timeline to hide all but the one you're editing. Needless to say, that's a very unfriendly way to program an interaction.

If that is the case, I think it'd be worth the effort to move the text boxes to separate layers, and change the button triggers. Each button would only need one trigger to show the corresponding layer. That's because, by default, showing one layer hides the other layers.

  • Note: Be sure to change the initial state of each text box to Normal when you copy and paste it to a layer.

Or, if that's how the text looks during Preview, well, the file may be corrupted.

Good luck!
