Double Audio Issue

Nov 01, 2022

Hello, I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me with a problem I'm having.

One of the audio files I used in my project had a high pitched sound in it that bothered the ears of a few reviewers I sent it to for feedback. I edited the audio file outside of storyline to remove the sound, then replaced the audio on the first slide. Now when it plays it seems like it is playing the file, then starting to play the file again a second later leading to both playing and a double note effect. I've attached the audio file as well so you can hear the difference.

My troubleshooting:
I tried changing the audio to this file on another slide, the same effect occurred. I tried replacing the new audio file with the original file on the slide to see if it was a problem with how the audio file itself interacts with articulate but it then created the effect on the old music that used to work as well.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for trying to help! I'm not on a network drive.

Do you hear the high pitched sound on the first slide or just the second? The second is still the original with the sound in it, but if you are hearing it on the first or the attached audio file that would be a problem I'd need to fix.

On your machine the audio that plays in the first slide sounds the same as the attached audio? That's interesting, for me it sounds like double notes being played in spots and not the same though close. It doesn't sound terrible doing the duplicate thing I suppose but it gives it a faster, less laid back feeling with the extra notes.

I considered just leaving it since it didn't sound bad per se but its doing it with other music files too that don't blend as well as this one does. I'm trying to put a different file in that is easier to hear what its doing on it and now its just crashing each time I tell it load any other audio.

Oh I figured out what its doing!!!! Its taking the stereo audio and automatically changing it to mono. I think to fix it I'll have to find a way to make the file sound right in mono and then add it to story line, not sure how to do that yet but at least its progress!

Edit: I found a discussion on disabling the compression for the file and now I'm all set.
