Drag and Drop doesn't automatically advance to next slide

Apr 21, 2017

I had a sorting interaction in Storyline 1, but when I transferred it to Storyline 2, the automatic advance no longer works.

It is a drag and drop interaction. Each draggable item changes to a "hidden" state when dropped on the correct target. I have triggers to submit and move to the next slide when all draggable items are hidden.

There are no submit or next buttons, and the slide is set to advance automatically.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?

Hey folks,

I had it fixed by reversing the trigger (instead of triggering when all were hidden, it triggered when all were not normal) not sure why that worked but it was only a temporary fix. For some reason it's not working again.

I've also tried pausing the timeline and triggering to resume and advance automatically when all are hidden/not normal.

I've tried making the finish message a separate layer and making it a "show layer" trigger rather than a "jump to slide" trigger.

I've tried importing those slides into a new storyline file (attached) and getting the same issues.

It is not a preview issue because it has the same problems when tested in the LMS.

Any ideas?

Hi Deidre,

Looks like you've got a lot of items in here - instead of using the hidden or not normal states - you could use the "dropped correct" state of each item and edit the state of that to not include the text box element. Then you won't need the added triggers to adjust the state - it'll happen by design of the drag and drop.

That should allow everything to work as intended. I also noticed that the text box for "dementia" didn't have any correct association? It just kept snapping back regardless of where I tried to drop it.
