Drag and drop: Group element as drag item

Aug 09, 2013

Hello all,

I have a problem here:

I have a drag and drop question where I have a small hotspot while the actual drag item is quite large.

I thought it could be a workaround to group the grid with an oval that I'd hide and make this oval the drag item.

So when the user would move the grid, the oval would move accordingly and I had a more precise targeting for the hotspot. The issue is that with this layout (that can't be changed) the answer will be correct every time because as far as I understood the correct answer is triggered even when item and target are just intersecting and not matching exactly.

The picture above is a schematic view of my setup.

And I can't select the oval in the drag and drop edit:

Any comments, help or workarounds would be great to hear.

Thank you very much

Hi Moritz and welcome to Heroes!

Is the hotspot the intersection of the rectangles, or the oval? I'm not sure I am clear on what should be the correct answer - and what you'd like to drag?

Would you be able to share the slide that you're working on here or if you'd prefer to not post it in the forums you can send it to us privately here.

Hi Ashley,

thank you for your reply.

The hotspot is the greenish rectangle around the oval. I'd like to use the oval just to narrow down the "correct" area.

The oval should be invisible (hidden) but grouped with the white grid. The grid should be moved by the user.

The correct answer within the drag and drop would be when the oval is within the boundary of the green hotspot.

(The reason for doing so is that the grid should be moved over a picture)
