Drag and Drop Issues using iPhone from Articulate Storyline 3 (Upgraded from AS2)

May 05, 2020

Hi,

I upgraded a course built in Articulate Storyline 2 to Articulate Storyline 3 a while ago. We just started trying to use it on mobile devices, and we are finding that there are some issues in our activities that involve drag and drop interactions (set up through triggers). Dragging the object across the screen sometimes moves the entire screen. The objects also don't always go back to their initial position if dropped on a non-target location and can float around (sometimes partially off the screen). I have ready on some older threads that others have had this problem too with builds upgrades from AS 2. I'm wondering if a solution has been found. Will I need to rebuild the entire program in AS 3, or can I just redo those slides? Is there an even easier fix? Thank you!

Hi Pallas,

Happy to help here!

The interaction should continue to work as intended after upgrading to Storyline 3. Was the Drag and Drop interaction experiencing this issue in Storyline 2?

If you can share your file with us, we're always more than happy to help! You can share files in this thread here, or you're always welcome to share them privately here. We'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look!

Hi Vincent,

The interaction works find on laptops and desktops. I'm only having the issue on certain mobile devices (at least this problem is happening on my iPhone). The original program was designed to be used on computers so we did not test on mobile devices. I am seeing looking at older forum posts that others have had this same issue, but I don't see a resolution posted. These posts are a couple years old so hoping something has been worked out. I submitted my file privately through the ticket support system, and I received a response from Chester saying it he has logged the problem as a potential software bug. Would you be willing to take a look as well?

Hi Lauren,

Unfortunately Chester did not provide a satisfactory resolution. He told me that I should just tell my learners to use the desktop version. We need to be able to have learners use our program on mobile devices.

I am open to trying out solutions like rebuilding the slides that have problems now that I'm working in AS3 but would appreciate some guidance on whether this will even work before investing the effort. It also sounds like this is being reported as a bug. I'm wondering whether I have any hope that there will be a solution in the near future or if waiting it out is unlikely to yield any progress in the near-term. Please advise.
