Duration inherrited from Presenter

Jan 20, 2017

Hi all.

If you have Duration checked in Presenter and then import a file to Storyline the duration will turn up in Player on publish. Is there a way to remove the duration afterwars as total duration alwasy says 00:00:00?

Hi Joyce,

Oh no, a case of the mystery timer! I'm sure that's really frustrating to not be able to track it down - but I think I have an idea!

Did you have a Quizmaker file in your previous Presenter course? If so, the timer from that Quiz could be lingering on your imported file. Two steps to try and resolve it:

  1. Try importing the entire Storyline course into a new file following these steps.

    OR
  2. If you don't need the timer at all, change the colors of the timer to match your player border. This article details what colors you'll want to adjust.

Let me know if either of those work for you!

Thank you for the suggestions.  I did have Quizmaker files in the presenter course, although they didn't utilize a timer for answering questions.

I've followed the steps you suggested, and I'm coming up with an identical result.  The timer still shows next to the title above the course content, and it doesn't change from (00:00/00:00) as the course plays.  This is true both of Web and LMS publishing of the new SL2 file I created from the SL2 file developed when pulling slides in from the presenter file.

I also tried updating the timer color, but that didn't change anything either.  I think that's probably because the timer in Presenter is in a different place than the timer in SL. (I don't think I was aware that SL actually had a timer feature, so I'll have to look into that.)

So - I guess we'll just have to live with it for the time being.
