Editing captures within Storyline video recordings?
Feb 10, 2014
Hi! I am trying to figure out the best way to edit a Storyline video recording that is NOT imported as a single slide video, but as a step-by-step on separate slides. I have a client that wants to be able to edit the captures on these slides if necessary. For example, scrubbing out names, or personal information that appears on screen that they don't want people to see. How can we do this within Storyline? I don't understand why there is a "change picture" option for other media elements, but not for screen recordings. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi Laurie,
You can edit these videos by right clicking anywhere on the video and selecting "Action Fine Tuning." Here is a link to a tutorial.
I had a project recently where I had to make many adjustments to some step-by-step videos. To blur out names, I placed a blurred rectangle over the name that I created in PowerPoint. You have to add the shape on each step (slide) where the name appears - but once you have the first one in place, you can copy and paste it to the others.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, Jill! That's what I was going to suggest to my client as well. The only problem with that solution is when there is when the screen is being scrolled within the simulation. I might just have to workaround those by fading in and out instances of that video clip.
Hi Laurie,
I'm glad that Jill was able to point you towards the action fine tuning, and I also wanted to point out this tutorial on how to hide sensitive information. One caution, you'll want to fully test this to ensure you've hidden everything as I've heard of users who *thought* it was hidden only to see upon publish that a scroll action didn't keep the info hidden.
