Editing existing templates

Jul 19, 2012

I am hoping that someone can shed light on how to easily edit an existing template without having to open it up and import all the slides first.  With other software, there is usually an "edit" or "open" option that brings you back to the original template without having to open an instance of it instead.

Also, when I import slides from slightly different templates that have the identical slide masters , it creates a duplicate of the slide master. Any way to avoid this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jill

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, the video and tutorial do not contain the piece of information I am looking for.

What I want to be able to to do is edit an existing template without having to first open a new instance of the template, and then resave it. In a nutshell, I would like to be able to right-click a template, and select "edit" and then launch the template.

Hi Justyna,

There isn't a feature to just directly edit a template, you'd need to figure open it and import those template slides into a .story file. You could do this in a new blank .story file and save those changes before importing into your project. You're also welcome to share your thoughts for a template edit function here.

Hi Sarah,

I'm not a programmer either, so I can't speak to if it's been deliberately omitted for a particular reason. I don't have information to share on what features may be included, and when - but I do know our development team is interested in customer needs and the best way to communicate that to them is through the form of a feature request.
