Embedding a YouTube video to display in slide

Aug 25, 2016

Hi all

I'm having trouble viewing a YouTube video that has been embedded to display in slide.  I followed the instructions here https://en-au.articulate.com/support/storyline-2/how-to-add-a-youtube-video-sl2 however when I publish it (HTML5) I can see the player but not the content. It's just blank.

It works if I embed it as a web object to display in a new browser window but not when I insert it to display in slide. I can view the video when I preview it but not once it is published.

I need to be able to display YouTube content in slide. Can anyone help?

thank you

Hi Mariana,

What publishing settings are you using and how are you viewing the course once it's published?

If you open an Articulate Storyline course from your local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail. To properly test your published content and share it with others, make sure to upload it to the environment for which it was published. For instance, if you were to Publish for Web you'll want to upload it to a web environment, such as Tempshare, to properly test it.

If you're still having trouble with the YouTube video after viewing your published output in it's intended environment, would you mind sharing your .story project file or the specific slide here so we can do some testing? You can add it as at attachment in a comment right to this thread.

Hi Ali

I published it for LMS and I viewed it in our LMS (we use Litmos). They have tested it and suggested I contact you.  I ticked the box to include HTML5 output which is how I publish all our courses so that our sales force can access them on their mobile devices.  As I said, I followed the instructions provided in the tutorial for that purpose. I don't what I'm doing wrong.

thanks
