The file are hosted on a password-protected web server.
The problem doesn't occur in any other browser on the same laptop. When I try it on a Windows 8 laptop, the same version of IE 11 loads the course with no problems.
Could you share a link to the course here with us (or send it to me via a private message) so that we could try it, as I have the same set ups as you.
Also, it's worth noting that the support article you linked to is about the HTML5 output, and you'd want to test that within one of the browsers mentioned here that support HTML5.
