First off, I'm using Storyline 360 and PowerPoint 2013 on Windows 10 - all updated as of today 1/2/2018.
I get an "Exception During Import Powerpoint" error and I cannot figure out what the problem is or how to troubleshoot.
The PPT was designed as an interactive learning module prototype so I'm afraid that maybe some of the hyperlinked text, animations, interactivity might be creating problems.
Also regarding basic PPT import FAQs: the PPT file is on my local drive (not network drive), on my desktop (no long file path), and file name is "Prerequisite" (no special characters or symbols).
Does anyone have any solutions or insight as to how to troubleshoot this?
We determined that one of the slides is faulty by removing each slide one-by-one and running the import until the error went away. Importing the PPT without that one slide was successful - and imported the faulty slide just by itself in a separate PPT generated the error.
I would like to send you the PPT with just the faulty slide, but can you tell me if the file I send is private? Thanks!
Ah, great detective work Craig! Sure, you can send us the faulty PPT slide, and we'll take a closer look. Any files you send us through this link are kept confidential.
Be sure to let me know your case number so I can follow along!
Checking in with you this morning, and it looks like Eloisa got your file fixed up. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out here or reply to Eloisa's email!
Thank you for the follow up. Just to share with the readers, Eloisa determined that the slide master of this one slide seems to be corrupt and the way to fix it is to create and apply a new slide master (View > Slide Master > Insert Slide Master > select the Blank Layout).
I ran into the same issue. Inserting a blank new Master Slide Layout allowed me to import the slides into Storyline 360. Thanks Craig for posting the solution.
