Exit Button acts as Next button

May 23, 2013

I have used the exit link which you setup in the player area on the top of my courses, (put a tick in the Exit Course box) however all this does is moves the course on to the next page just as the 'Next' button does.

If I setup and exit button manually that works fine.

No change whether the course is on the LMS or my own PC

Hi Ken,

Just to be clear, you're referring to the "Exit" tab that's available through the player properties, correct?

Sounds strange that it's navigating to another slide and not exiting the course. Are you using a default player template, or are you using a custom template?

Any chance you can share the .STORY file here? I'd be happy to take a look and see what's going on.

Thanks!

Morning Ken! :)

Thanks for the file. Unfortunately, though, that looks like the published output. Are you able to post the main .STORY file for the course?

This should be a single file that's listed as an "Articulate Storyline Story" file type. If you're having trouble finding it, you could always click on the Articulate menu in the upper left-hand corner of Storyline and choose "Save As". Save the project to your desktop. This should generate a single .STORY file for you.

Thanks!

Christine

Hi Ken,

Thanks very much for the file!

I took a look and I experienced the same thing when clicking on your current tab. I deleted the tab, saved the file and added a new "Exit" tab. When I tested this, it worked properly.

For some reason, I think it's defaulting to the initial trigger that comes up when you create a new tab. For example, if you click to add a new tab, you'll see that the first option is to jump to a slide.

Can you please take a look at the file and confirm this version is working for you as well?

Thanks!
