Next button doesn't always work in published course

Feb 27, 2017

Hi-

I am having trouble with the Next button on some slides not functioning in my published Storyline 360 course. The course functions fine in preview mode but once I publish it and load it to our LMS, the Next button does not function on some slides. If I exit the course, then resume where I left off it works fine.

Can anyone offer any insight?

Hi Kerry,

Some other things you may want to check into:

  • Are you viewing Flash or HTML5? You'll want to double check that it's a supported browser for each type of output.
  • Have you tested outside the LMS? SCORM Cloud is a free, standard testing platform and we've got a good article here to walk you through the testing and upload
  • Does it happen on the same slides every time, or just randomly on a slide? If it's the same slide - anything special about that type - like all question slides, or all with layers?

As Wendy said we’d be happy to take a look at your file. You’ll want to upload the .story file here (which is the file prior to publishing) using the “ADD ATTACHMENT” button at the bottom of the forums reply window. If you’d prefer to not share in the public you’re always welcome to share with our Support Engineers here. They’re available 24/7 to assist!

I have published as HTML5 with Flash fallback and as Flash with HTML5 fallback. Both have the same issues. The output option is Tin Can.

It does happen on the same slides each time, and they all have layers.  The Next buttons are triggered to disable when the timeline starts, and become Normal at a certain cue point on the last layer. The Next button does show as Normal when it should but it does not function.  It is triggered to function when clicked.

This is the first time we have published using Storyline 360. We have published similar files using Storyline 2 with no issues.

I am unable to share the file publicly, so I will follow your suggestion and share it with your Support Engineers.

Thanks for your help!
