I think the EXIT button will only work and it will close your browser and trigger your LMS status if your course is launched in a popup window as Javascript can't close _parent window.
It sounds like you're testing the "exit course" trigger on Articulate Review, is that right?
Exit course triggers and Exit player tabs won't work in Articulate Review. However, they'll work in browsers that allow tabs to close programmatically when your published output is hosted on a web server or LMS.
