I'm working on an interactive org chart activity similar to this one, but I want my user to click on the different "levels" of the org chart and for more detail to be revealed about each one. In a perfect world, I'd like the actual "shape" to drop down (grow/expand) as they click on it. Sort of like when you click on something in the task bar and more options appear. I tried a grow effect on a shape, but that's not doing exactly what I want. Any ideas?
You could try placing the expanded elements of the chart on layers. Since layers have their own timeline, it would provide some flexibility with effects and animations. A while ago, there was a weekly eLearning challenge about org charts. See here for examples.
Hi, Megan -- In addition to Michael's great suggestion, you may also want to check out this article with a number of other examples you may find useful. Please feel free to share your finished product if you'd like so you can inspire others, as well! :)
