Export part of the slide to PDF

Dec 19, 2022

Hello there,

I need to be able to export part of a slide to PDF. This would be used on smartphones. However the usual 'window.print(); ' JS command one would usually deploy to 'print to PDF' on a desktop does not work on smartphone (iPhone). The user does not get the option to save the slide to PDF, just the printer(s) the smartphone can see. My request is as follows:

Say a slide is 1920 x 1080 and I'd like to export the central portion of 800 x 600 to a PDF. I can't create a PDF as I would normally do for a certificate as I need to invoke variables of different length within paragraphs (hence it will not be possible to 'drop' those variables at the same coordinates).

I'm guessing the idea is to 'screenshot' that part of the screen and then export that to a PDF (I don't need the PDF to actually contain text, just an image of the screen will do).

Is this doable?

Many thanks

Hi Jerome,

Currently, there isn't a way to export a portion of a slide to PDF. The best way to possibly see a feature added to Storyline is to submit a feature request. You can submit one here. If the request makes it onto our feature roadmap, we’ll make sure to update you in this conversation!

Thanks for reaching out!
