Exporting and Changing Question IDs

Hi all,

I'm trying to get an understanding of Question IDs. We have a highly customized course for which our client recently changed their reporting process and is asking for a list of all question IDs used in the course. I have a few questions related to IDs that I couldn't find answers to elsewhere:

  1. Is there an easy way to export question ID information?
  2. Also, what factors would cause a question ID to change? 
    • For instance, we used one question as a template for others in the course, copying it into a new location and then changing the particulars of that question. 
    • Also, some questions were reporting "undefined" so we ended up rebuilding those questions. Once we rebuilt them, would the ID have changed?

Hi James,

Are you referring to the Question  ID as reported within the data detailed here? The ID is assigned by Storyline as described:

  • id: Storyline sends a series of data for this string to identify the Scene#, the QuestionDraw# (if applicable), and the Slide# in that particular scene or question draw.

There isn't a way to export this data within Storyline but it may be information you can pull from your LMS in terms of the reports available so you'll want to reach out to them for specifics.

Hi Ashley,

Yes, these are the IDs to which I'm referring. Our client recently changed
their API and are now relying on the IDs. So they're looking for a list of
all IDs used in the course, broken out by module, because they're seeing
duplicate IDs. Was hoping there was a way to pull that information.
