Fade duration is relative to slide timelikne - work around?

Sep 13, 2014

The duration of fades in my slides is relative to the length of the slide. If it is a short timeline, then a "very slow" fade is actually pretty fast. And the fades are inconsistent in look and feel through the whole course. This is because I am using video that dictates the length of the timeline. If I set the timeline for all slides to be the same length, then the seekbar on most of them will be useless. Is there any way to do what PowerPoint does - specify the duration of the fades and transitions regardless of the timeline?

Hi Stephen:

You are correct, the fade is relative to the timeline, but of the object, not the slide.

Workaround:

Create multiple instances of the object, ones that fade and one that does not.

To fade-in, create an instance of the object and have it fade in then end the timeline

Next, have the non-fading object display

To Fade-out, have a third instance of the object display at the end of the non-fading object.

Hope this helps.
