Feedback Layer Triggers Inconsistent

Apr 09, 2017

Hello all, I'm creating a quiz and I want to use a fade transition after every question. Unfortunately, when the feedback layer hides after clicking Continue, it briefly shows the base layer while at the same time fading into the next question. I received feedback that this is confusing for the user.

To remedy this, I deleted the hide layer trigger from the Continue button and added another button called Show Question which hides the feedback layer, giving users the opportunity to see the question before continuing or if revisiting.

This solution works great for incorrect questions, but not for those that are correct. When reviewing an incorrect question after clicking Show Question, the user simply has to hit Submit again to be given the option to Continue or Show Question again. However, when reviewing a correct question, the feedback layer doesn't populate again after hitting Submit. Nothing happens. You have to hit the Previous button and then the Next button to continue. It should be noted that I have disabled the Next button to prevent users from moving forward without having answered the current question, so this Next button is auto generated.

I've also attempted to solve the problem using the Feedback Master with no luck. I was able to get the Continue button to function properly, but the Show Question button would not. I followed the instructions given in previous discussions in my attempt to accomplish this.

I'm really spending too much time on this to keep a simple fade transition, but now I'm just being stubborn.

Hi Jacob,

It's difficult to tell exactly what's going on without the file, but maybe my solution will help.

Something I like to do is setup an exit layer. This layer doesn't hide any other layers or pause any timelines. All it has is a black rectangle that covers the entire slide and fades in over 0.75 seconds. Then there is a trigger to move to the next slide when the timeline ends. This way, what ever layer they are moving from continues to show, all you see is the fade and move to next slide. Often on the next slide I'll have another black rectangle that fades out after 0.75 seconds after the slide starts. It makes for a nice fade transition.

I've also setup multiple exit layers on one slide or used variables on one exit layer if the user may need to go to different slides based on what they did on the current slide (e.g. go to Slide A if correct or Slide B if incorrect).
