File Publishing for LMS Taking Long

Dec 20, 2020

Hi,  I have a 40 minute course with no audio and video.  It has about 109 slides including a 12 question assessment.  It is taking more that 1.5 hours to publish for an LMS.  Is this normal?  I'm on a time crunch and would appreciate any guidance.  Thank you!

Hi, Maribeth,

The "old" Studio '09 courses used to take that long to publish. But that's way too long for a modern Storyline course, especially when there are no big audio or video files to deal with.

The only advice I can offer is what the staff would likely say: Don't work over a network. Have the Storyline file on your hard drive, and publish to your hard drive.

If you're already doing that, then there may be some issue with your file. You might want to contact the support staff directly (https://articulate.com/support/contact). I've found them to be very responsive and helpful.

Good luck!

Hi Maribeth,

Thanks for sharing what you are experiencing with your project file and I'm glad that Judy was able to pop in and help you here. That does seem like a long time.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your .story project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hi,

Thank you for the response. I appreciate the explanation.

I am always working off of my hard drive. I think the problem may have been that our IT department was trying to push updates to my machine. I will keep an eye on this the next time I publish.

Have a great day and Happy New Year!
