Fill-in-the-Blank issues

We create software training where our simulations require users to enter text into fill-in-the-blank text fields. We've made these courses over the past few years. Originally we struggled with users taking the courses on mobile devices. After entering the value, if they click a submit button, the response doesn't set and their response isn't captured. They have to click somewhere on the slide before clicking submit for the response to be captured. Now, this is happening with all browsers/devices. 

I wanted to see if anyone had a work-around before I send a feature request?
