First mp4 video does not play on iPad as html5 output

Mar 07, 2013

I am having issues with the first video playing on the iPad as an html5 output. All of the other mp4 videos play fine except the first one. All of the settings are the same of all of the videos. The videos do play fine in the Articulate Mobile Player (even the first one) however not on the html5 output.

Some fixes I have tried from reading some threads are that the volume should not be at high. I have tried all of the volume levels and still no luck. I have also added triggers to play the slide once the timeline starts, but that also didn't work. Any ideas?

Hi Oscar, welcome to the community

How do you have the video configured to play? For HTML5, media must be triggered by the user to play properly. Also, if there are any overlapping media files, that would be an issue in HTML5 as well. Here's a handy chart illustrating the limitations.

Can you tell us a little more about how you've configured the videos to play?

Thanks!

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the welcome.

I have tried both setting the video to start automatically and start with a trigger when the timeline begins for this first video but neither worked. All of the other videos were set to start automatically and they play fine. I tried setting just the first video with a trigger but would not work.

There are also no other media files on that slide.

I have set in the properties of the videos to play with trigger. I added a new trigger that starts that video when the timeline starts. When I preview it I only get the first frame of the video with a loading icon.

Hi Oscar,

Thanks for the additional details. Have you tried setting the first video up with a trigger that the user must initiate, rather than set to start with the timeline?

If that's not working, please feel free to share your .story file, either in this thread or privately, and we'll be happy to take a closer look.

Thanks, Oscar!
