Free trial for commercial use?

Jan 21, 2021

Hey,

me and my company planing on working with Storyline. (as I do right now) We haven't bought the full version yet. We created some E-Learnings and want to publish them to our clients. Is this allowed? (boss said we take the 30d trial and than buy it) But what came to my head personally: If all the featueres are available in the free trail, why even consider buying it? Is there like a trackin system of some kind? Because I dont want to be responsible for the published E-learnings before buying the full version

This is one area where Articulate really got it right. The trial version is the real deal, nothing different about it, or the material you produce. The reason you buy it is that after the time expires, Storyline quits working. Anything you created and published still works.

There is a tracking system of sorts. SL calls home when you start it to see if your subscription is paid up.

Hey, Lucas!

It looks like Jaycee and Walt have you covered here - but I did want to point out, that Storyline 3 is a 30-day trial and Articulate 360 (which has Storyline 360) is a 60-day free trial! So that should be plenty of time to give them a test and ensure it has the features and functions you need.

As Jaycee mentioned, the published output for LMS or Web will continue working after you're trial but you won't be able to open the .story file for any further edits if your trial has expired.

Hello, Lucas,

To answer your question, yes, you can definitely use the free trial for commercial use. If you want to go into detail, I recommend checking out the terms of use. Once it expires, the published output for LMS or Web will continue working but you won't be able to open the .story file for any further edits as Ashley pointed out.

Articulate will keep your online data, including Rise 360 courses and Review 360 projects, on their servers for three months after your trial expires. This means you'll have access to your content again if you buy a subscription later. (They don't preserve Storyline 360 team slides or Rise 360 shared block templates when a trial expires.) After six months, they will then permanently delete your content, and they won't be able to restore it.

Also, each person gets one free trial of Articulate 360, whether he or she is the account owner/primary admin, a secondary admin, or an end user. Furthermore, each user can be a member of only one team, whether it’s a free trial or a paid subscription.

I hope this helps but please do write back if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Jaycee

Hi Melissa,

Yes, we updated our Articulate 360 trial duration to 30 days in December 2021. We’ve found that trial users have plenty of time to try out the tools and content in Articulate 360 in that time, and this shorter trial helps us provide the highest quality support to folks during their trial.

If you have questions or need a little more time to try out Articulate 360, please get in touch with our sales team by sending an email to sales@articulate.com.
