FTP
Sep 28, 2016
Hi, i use Filezilla to upload my content to my website and it works great, but I was wondering can i use the FTP option in Storyline in future as it might be a quicker and easier way to upload my stories. So far I have managed to successfully upload a file through the FTP option when I publish my story, and I can find the path to it. But I would like it to go into a specific folder when i upload it, otherwise i will have numerous story.html files in the one place. So my question really is, is it possible to create a new folder on my server when uploading my files through the FTP option in Articulate Storyline.

Hi John and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
You should be able to choose your directory when uploading the content as explained in this article.
FWIW - I can't imagine personally moving away from Filezilla in hopes of something faster or better.
So I have to make a separate folder each time in the directory, as for example if I made an Articulate Storyline folder in the directory, each time I FTP my published content and point to that folder, wont there be more then one .story.html in there.
Yes John, when you add the directory FZ will display 'the folder does not exist' do you want to create it - then select yes and it creates the new folder
Thanks, sorted now :)
Glad to see you were able to get the assistance you needed here John :) Thanks for the update.
I have successfully published to web and ftp'd my files to the webserver. The article on this subject then says to distribute the link. I can see the files in my file manager and want the story to appear on my WordPress site but I don't know what to do next. Can anyone help, please?
Hi Jo,
You should be able to grab that URL link to your .story file that you've uploaded and include that directly in your WordPress content.
Hi Jo
here is a quick Peek video that may help you.
Once your files are uploaded, expand the files and locate the story.hmtl (html5) file > Right click and copy to your clipboard. At this point the URL has your webserver FTP address so you just need to replace that with http://www.
Hope this helps
Thank you both for your replies, I appreciate it! Weirdly there are only .js files so I think I've done something wrong. I shall redo it and then follow your suggestions. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, when uploading to the FTP server, are you first publishing the Storyline file to Web or is there a trick to publishing the file?
You must publish first.
