Getting videos (inserted as Web Objects) to display in Moodle
Aug 18, 2015
Hi, all!
Disclaimer: I am new to Articulate...about a week in.... We are using Storyline to create interactives for a 100% online course.
So, what we are trying to do is insert a YouTube video, which I see can only be done via Web Object. No problem there, though. Found the correct URL and how to do that. In Articulate, the video seems to embed in the slide just fine. When I view the published course (by clicking that blue "view project" button), the video works great (and I have published for LMS). When I upload the SCORM package into Moodle, though, the video disappears. Everything else in the project works as designed, but that video doesn't even appear to be there - the slide is just blank. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong here?
Remember - newbie. :)
Thank you!
Carrie

Hi Carrie,
You may want to begin by reviewing the following troubleshooting steps here for when a web object isn't displaying in the published output.
Hope that helps!
Thanks, Ashley! I actually had seen those trouble-shooting steps but wasn't sure exactly how to use the info to make the right change. I suspect this is my issue: If you published for Web or LMS, upload your content to a server for proper viewing.
My problem, though, is that I don't know how to upload my content to a server...I uploaded the files to Moodle; beyond that, I don't know what to do (and I'm not sure who the Moodle admin is and if that person needs to add the files to a server...?). So, I saw the info, but I'm not sure how to apply it toward a solution.
Any further ideas...? Thanks so much!
Carrie
Hi Carrie,
So Moodle would be serving as the upload option in this case - and you'll want to make sure you're uploaded all the contents that were included in the published output folder. I don't know more specifics about Moodle, but for example at SCORM Cloud (an industry standard for LMS content) you have to zip the output file and then upload it. In regards to the server supporting those mime types, that is something I'd have to defer to Moodle on.
Sorry that isn't more help - but if you wanted to check and see how it behaves outside of Moodle to help you narrow down where the issue is you could upload to SCORM Cloud here (it's a free testing).
