I have a question slide in the middle of the course I ma building. This is a question slide where the learner needs to pick the two pieces of documentation they need to satisfy customs when they process an order.
I would like to give them 4 attempts at the question, but if they get it wrong on the 4th attempt I want to show them the right answer so they can move on.
I thought I could do this using the 'review' layer, but as far as I know (and I'm very new to this!) this is only visible when the learner clicks to review a quiz at the end of the course?
How can I get the course to give the right answer 'in line' , i.e/. after their 4th attempt?
If you're allowing them 4 attempts, they're likely seeing the "try again" layer inbetween each attempt, and you could then put the correct information on the "Incorrect" layer which they'll only see once they've reached the attempts and still answered incorrectly.
Many thanks for your answer. When I test out the slide, and deliberately get it wrong it gives me the 'incorrect' layer rather than the 'try again' layer.... How do I make it show the try again layer in between attempts?
Have you enabled the multiple attempts from the question set up as shown here?
If so, and you're still having difficulty we'll want to take a look at your .story file. Also if you've set it up another way you may want to investigate the options as detailed in the tutorial linked above, or again feel free to share the .story file so that we can take a look.
It works fine for me. The only thing I notice is that the "Try Again" feedback has a text box that says "Incorrect", but when I click "Try Again", it allows me to try again.
After I miss four times, I get the "Incorrect" feedback, which has a button that says "Continue". When I click it, it takes me to the next slide.
I think that if you change that one textbox to read "Retry", you will have what you want.
Hi Walt and Ashley - wow - what a fast response! Thank you so much for your help - its amazing how simple the answer is. That's what comes of staring at it for hours on end late at night! You miss the obvious.
For those who cannot see Walt's response - the software was working as expected - I just had the wrong wording on the try again and incorrect layers.

Hi Jo,

Hope that helps.
Hi Ashley!

Hi Ashley
Yes, I have enabled multiple attempts. Please find the .story file attached. The problem slide is 3.6. Any help gratefully accepted!
Many thanks!

Ah, glad Walt was able to take a look at this! Sometimes it is the simplest solution and that is a pretty easy one.
