When I group a number of objects and rotate them if I then ungroup them they return to the postion they started from. I really don't wnat to have to rotate and postion many objects one by one so hope there is some sort of work around.
Before you ungroup, either eyeball the group's rotation value or look at the Rotation value in the group's Size and Position dialog box.
When you ungroup, all the objects within the group will be selected.
Now, you can either click on one of the selected object's rotation points and eyeball the rotation or right-click on an object and choose Size and Position and enter the rotation value in the Rotation field. Either way, all the selected objects will rotate the same amount as they were when grouped.
Big thanks Chris and Jose. This is sort of what I thought I may end up doing, just a little laborious. I'll watch for this next time and make sure things are created in the right orientation to start with.

Here is a suggestion that may help.

You can ctrl select each object and rotate without grouping (they will all rotate individually) and then position each. That may save you some time.
