rotating objects with states, does not rotate state items

Storyline 3   3.3.15007.0

I have objects with multiple states that I would like to rotate. I have noticed that if I rotate a shape with a state which contains text, additional shapes, or images, the items in the states so not rotate while the original does. IF the objects are grouped, images contained in states will rotate; however, the same is not true for shapes with states containing additional shapes or text.

Hi Brian,

I was playing around with this and it sounds like you'd want the entire state and all objects to also rotate when rotating the normal state? Things you add to a state such as a text box, shape or image will be a part of that state and if they need to rotate in conjunction with the original object editing the rotation while in that particular state with all the items grouped is the way to have that happen.

If you edit the Normal state that will apply across the other states for that same object - but similarly you can edit the original object in another state such as Selected and that does not impact your normal state.

Let me know if I'm misunderstanding, and if you want to share a .story file or some images that would help too!

Hey Ashley,

My expectation was that when I rotate an object, outside of "edit states," and images, text, or shapes added to any of the states would move in relation to the original, rotated object. In other words, the X,Y positioning and rotation would be in relation to the original object - maybe called the "normal state" - and not relative to the slide. I would expect the objects added to the various states to behave like grouped objects. This issue is exaggerated if you are rotating grouped objects with states containing additional text or shapes, though it's strangely resolved for images, but the states of the individual objects in the group become super goofy - I'll let you review this in the attached example.

I'd be more than happy to talk to someone at articulate about this over the phone with or without a screenshare.

Thanks!

Brian
