growing rectangle

Nov 03, 2014

Hi Storyline family,

I would love to figure out a way to give the appearance of a rectangle growing to a set size from one screen to the next.

For example, I have a rectangle on the first screen that says the title and has a button to get started. On the second screen, quickly I have the title text and the button fade off the slide, and then I am hoping to give the appearance almost like that rectagle is being pulled down like a projection screen (I dont need to animate anyone pulling it), so it is longer to hold all of the course objectives. There's a border on the rectangle so when I thought I could keep the first rectangle on screen and have another one grow in to the new size, it was very obvious that it was two images.

Does anyone have any smooth tips?

Jill

Hi Jill,

Are you using SL1 or SL2? You can do a lot more with the latter. I've attached a really crude SL1 example to get the conversation started, although I don't think it achieves exactly what you want. The larger rectangle on the 2nd layer doesn't grow as it comes in, which I think is what you're asking?

Base layer has a rectangle with a title and a button

Second layer repeats these and has them fly out quickly to the right. "Objectives" rectangle flies in from the top after the others fly out. Base layer objects are hidden.

As I said, very crude, just to start the conversation.

Hi there Rebecca,

Thank you for the reply. I am using SL1 right now. Unfortunately for what I am aiming to do, I really need to create the appearance that it's the same box, starting at one size, and being expanded in length. I'll keep looking too, and if you think of any work-arounds, please let me know :)

Thanks again,

Jill
