hard spaces

Feb 13, 2014

Sorry if there is already a thread about this, but when I search, no matter what topic today, I get 'no results'!?

Am using a company name in NOTES that is two words (think Arrow Company). The two words must always display together and never break between two lines. When I enter a hard space, it isn't observed after the course is published. So I've checked each screen and inserted a hard return as needed. But there seems to be a default extra amount of space between 'paragraphs', so the spacing looks odd in the NOTES box.

Any idea how I can 1) use a hard space to keep two words together in NOTES or 2) get rid of the extra space between paragraphs? Or a better solution?

Thanks!

Hi Carrie,

You'll need to use the "Insert -> Symbol" and choose no-breaking space when working within the Notes panel to get this to work. I tested it out in a Storyline Update 5 file and it worked as expected in the Notes panel. It did not work within a textbox on a slide, as that seems to allow the text box formatting to override that element (i.e. wrap text, autofit, etc.).

Thanks, Ashley.  Yes, it's in the notes that I need it. I just tried it on my screen and it didn't work. Then I added a completely new screen and it worked.....then on that new screen  I deleted the hard space and inserted a regular space....then deleted the regular space and re-inserted the hard space and it didn't work. Tried erasing all the text in the notes and then typing in the text with the hard space again, but no luck, so it looks like I'll have to make new screens! That's do-able.

Appreciate your help!
