Help create a course progression tracking using visited state?

Apr 16, 2013

Hello!

I am building a course on how to merchandise various fixtures in a retail setting.  I know (or at thought so!) that I saw either a discussion or tutorial or how to track learner progress throughout course.

I tried setting up visited states, but I think I might be missing something.

What I would like to have happen is slide 1.1 be "home base" that the user always returns to, and can click each fixture type to learn more - once that scene is finished, they would then return to 1.1 where an indicator of sorts would be marked on the fixture types they have visited.

Any help on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi there Molly!

I believe the method you're referring to tracks specific slides. So, once the user has visited all of the slides you've specified, the course is marked complete.

Track using number of slides viewed: With this option, your LMS will determine whether a learner has passed or completed your course by monitoring the number of slides the learner has viewed.

You can set this up under "Reporting and Tracking" options when publishing to your LMS:

Sounds like this method may be easier for you. Would this work for your course?

Let me know!

Thanks,

Christine

Have a look at the attached. Rather than using the visited state (which would be reset upon returning to the home base) I added a custom state for the three buttons and set completion variables to True at the end of eah of the three sections. Back at the home base, I check the varibales and if complete, they set the three buttons to their complete state. Hope that makes sense.

Michael -

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for, thank you!!   I can't wait to examine your set-up and learn how to do it, as I will have several courses ideally set-up this way.

Chrisitine - Thanks for your reply, as well!   This course is being built as a resource, and visitng all fixture types is not required, but the learner can navigate through the virtual store to visit only ones relevant to their position.
