Help! installed the app but it doesn't seem to open the software

I must be doing something wrong, when I read the guides I don't reach the page which has the "open" buttons on lhs of page for the various components. I am trying to open Storyline to learn by doing as well as watching the tutorials. I can watch the tutorials, but I can't seem to open Storyline. Thanks for your help. Lindsay
