Hidden objects (text box) on base layer appearing on other layers

Nov 21, 2012

A hidden text box on the base layer appears on other layers in the slide when published for LMS. The text box does not appear when I am using Articulate to edit or preview the slide. Any ideas on how to fix this?

2 years later...this is back - I have the latest update installed and hiding text on base layer (as one object) when I am on a different layer stopped working recently, so I started adding "changing the state to hidden" when they click on the object to get you to another layer - and now that is not working - very frustrating and NO I can not import into a new project (before you suggest this) as I have a HUGE glossary list, so not an option to start with a new project file.  at this point I am adding more objects to hide the text since it refuses to not show.  hope this gets fixed soon.

Hi Cynthia,

This thread is much older - so I'd want to know if you're on Storyline 1 or Storyline 2?  The issue that Pete linked to above was resolved in Update 2 of Storyline 1, and we're now on update 8. If the behavior persists for you and you've already confirmed to be working on local project files as described here we'd want to take a look at your .story file to see if there is anything else interfering with the set up.

I am on latest update - this issue comes and goes with updates from your company and windows updates - fun indeed.  My contracts do not allow me to show ANY of my paid work outside of the client, so I thanks but I can not send.  so you can pass along - the text hides if the seekbar is not scrubbed back, once it is scrubbed - it will not hide.  Also, if the user clicks to jump to a layer BEFORE the timeline to show text (with fade animation) - then it will show through and again not hide - EVEN when I add in the change state to hidden when this layer starts.  Solution - copy everything to every layer that would normally just show through - this obviously adds to file size but it works (edits make me cry trying to remember all the places to make changes).  This is a fairly new issue for me - prior just hiding base layer objects worked perfectly.  I'll live - I'm very fast.

Hi Cynthia,

Thanks for sharing the information here and I certainly understand that you're unable to share based on the contract. Our team can always sign an NDA if needed and you can reach out to the support engineers here. Additionally if you're able to recreate the behavior in a sample file, we could take a look at that one?

If you're ok making the changes as you mentioned, then it may be a viable workaround.
