Hide and Show

Feb 10, 2013

I am new to storyline so apologies if the answer seems a little basic. I have four objects and I want text to appear when I click on the object, but not disappear when i click on the next object. I have managed to achieve the first part of the equation by putting the text on layers and a trigger on each object to show the relevant layer. Is there a way to keep the layer showing once initially triggered? or is there a different way to achieve the same effect. Any help appreciated.

Hi Paul, there are a couple of ways you could do this - since you put your text on separate layers the easiest thing for you to do right now is edit the layer properties for each layer and make sure the "Hide other slide layers"  is not selected. This will ensure each layer stays displayed once visited.

The other option would be to add a visited state to your each of your objects and place the text in the visited state. Once the object is clicked the visited state should display automatically and stay visible.

Nancy, thank you for the feedback it worked perfectly. I am just in the process of switching from captivate to articulate and when comparing the two the analogy that springs to mind when developing an e learning course is going on a long distance drive. Captivate is like a tractor, it is clumsy, difficult to drive and hard to work out  what to do when you get into difficulties. Articulate on the other hand is like a comfortable car with a satnav. It's comfortable, provides a lovely drive and when you do get into difficulties there is always someone to point you in the right direction to get you back on track...both vehicles will get you to your destination, but one is a lot quicker, is a far more pleasant experience and allows you to arrive in style... Thanks for the help Nancy it's appreciated.
