How can you keep a slide from closing when you open another slide?

Dec 14, 2015

This is a small thing but it's frustrating: When I'm working on a slide and I open another one, the first one closes and I have to reopen it.

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for your responses. I have SL1. SL2 is on the horizon for January, we hope! I can't really upload the .story file (proprietary), but here's a verbal description:

I open a slide, and it now has a tab beside the Story View tab. From the Scenes dropdown, I select a different scene and then double-click a slide in that scene to open it. Now the tab at the top reflects the new slide, and the first slide has closed. I would like to have both of them stay open. Does that make sense?

Hi Norma

yes I am seeing the same behaviour in SL1 when you choose from the Scenes dropdown.  I can't say I have ever used that I always go back to Storyview and choose the slide/scene I want to use.

I have tested in SL2 and it does exactly the same thing. It replaces the slide in the tab with the one you select when choosing from the dropdown.

You may want to report as a bug or it may be the default behaviour I'm not sure. In the meantime perhaps you could go in via Storyview to select the slides and they will remain open in tabs.

Hi Norma,

Thanks for sharing the situation here and sorry about the trouble it's caused. I'm glad Wendy provided you with another method to keep them all open.

I think it is working as expected, as you're changing the Scene from the drop down, and that's the particular tab/option highlighted so when you change scenes it's going to give you that start slide in the new slide as your option. If you have more than one tab open with different scenes, if you choose a new scene/slide from the drop down that is already open it will toggle to that tab which is already open.
