I found why it changed - must be a button I pasted in. However, I would like to know if there is there a quicker way to change the slide timing? I tried searching, but end up mostly with results for Presenter.
I think we can use the timeline to fixed the length of the slide. And accordingly, we can manage the length of display of objects and audio by increasing or decreasing their sizes.
Hi Walt! There is not a universal way if that is what you are looking for and the tips provided in the thread you were previously in are all some of the workarounds.
Thanks for the replies - I had forgotten about that thread from last year, and it's the same issue, more or less.
Added: I would be happy to have an easier way to change the slide length than dragging the timeline (which is easy until the timeline goes across three scrolls).
It's easy to make a slide longer (the original version of this post was asking if there was some hidden shortcut that I might have accidentally used - but it turned out to be a pasted button.
I will submit a feature request for a timing dialog for the slide.
My workaround: I found that by zooming out the timeline, it was easier to drag the slide length (once it is less than 30 seconds, no more scrolling is needed.
I take it there is still no solution for shortening the length of a slide without dragging the timeline (even at the minimum zoom, only about a minute and a half shows - even on a monitor 1920 pixels wide with the side panels collapsed). I was hoping it would make it into Storyline 2 :-(

Yes, I like the zooming feature as well Thanks for sharing your solution and thanks in advance for that feature request!

HI Walt,
With Storyline 2 you'll still have to drag the timeline as mentioned.
