How do I clear the quiz results?
May 10, 2012
I have a quiz that has the Review Quiz option enabled on the results slide.
I have set up each quiz question to allow the user only one attempt to answer and have correct/incorrect feedback at the question level.
I have set up the revist option to reset to initial state for each of the quiz questions because I want the user''s choices to be cleared if the user goes back and tries the quiz again.
Ok so here is the problem - once on the results screen, the user can click a button to review the quiz or just click the next button to go to the conclusion slide.
If the user skips the review and clicks ahead - then decides to go back and take the quiz again - all the answer selections they made the first time are removed (this is what I want).
BUT, if they review the quiz results and then go back to retake the course - they just get the quiz results again. How do I clear the quiz results after they have been viewed?

Can anyone help me out with this? I'm usually pretty good at figuring stuff out for myself but this has me stumped.
Hi Nancy,
Have you tried disabling the resume feature of the course? It sounds like if the end-user leaves the course, you want them to have to retake the quiz. This would be the easiest way to enforce this.
Hi Brian, I have diabled the resume feature so if they leave the course and restart it is fine - everything is reset but if they do not leave the course and then go back and try the quiz again, the results do not clear.
Hi Nancy,
When you add a Retry Quiz button to your results slide, we automatically add an action called Reset results. It sounds like you don't have that button enabled in your result slide:
Thus, you could add that action as a Trigger in your project to the Next slide button. Play with that and see if you can get the end-user that you're looking for.
Oh man, you are right. I don't have the retry quiz option enabled. I think I'm starting to get SL overload. It's a good thing I am going on vacation.
Amen. I'm headed to Europe next week for a long trip and I can't wait. It'll be nice to clear my head.
Nice, have a great time and a good rest - you deserve it. I'm headed to Europe as well for 3 weeks so maybe I'll see you there .

Hi Nancy,
How do you do that? I cannot see such option.
I want the radio button to be cleared in a the second attempt ( I have 2 attempt for each question). Is it possible?

Yaki
Hi Yaki, on the slide for the very first quiz question, add a trigger as follows:
Action: Reset results
Results: select your results slide from the drop-down list
When: timeline starts
Object: this is the name of the slide you are currently on
This should do it for you.
Hi Nancy
It did not provide the expected result.
I want the radio button to be cleared on the 2nd attempt.
The radio button is cleared only when i retry quiz from the result slide

I know that this thread is a little bit older but I have same problem. I am using SL 1 and I created a course with some different sections. Every section has a final test (not tracked). If the learner passes the single section can go forward in the course, otherwise he needs to repeat the single section.
I created a trigger to disable/enable in the menu the different sections and this works fine, but when the learner doesn't pass the test the results are not deleted (the radio button is not clickable).
I do not give the possibility to retry the quiz, because the learner need to repeat the course section.
Does anybody can help me to solve this issue?
Thanks a lot!
Silvia
Hi Silvia,
Did you use the slide property of "reset to initial state"? That would allow the user to revisit the quizzes and try them again but also using the "retry" quiz button would do the same thing. You can determine where it branches too - either the start of the course or the quiz by adjusting the trigger - just make sure the "jump to slide" trigger comes after the "reset results" trigger.

Hi Ashley,
sorry for the delay in answering. I applied your suggestion setting "reset to initial state" and it solved the issue.
Thanks again and sorry for the delay.
Silvia
No apologies necessary Silvia and glad you were able to get it working.
Ashley, you just saved me! Six years later and this post was very helpful. Thanks!
I would like to reset only incorrect questions with a "Retry the question(s) you missed" button. However, whenever I click on it, it also resets the results tied to the "Restart the course" button.
