How do you insert a quiz to use your template design?

Hello, I'm new to this product and am building my first course.  I am using a custom background template for the look and feel and have imported ppt slides for my course content.  I am now trying to add various interactive elements and have created a quiz (matching drag and drop) from one of the Quizzing/Graded options.  Everything works fine, only the quiz slide does not use my course background template and I can't work out a way of doing so.  Is there a way?
